Okonomiyaki Party

I’ve tasted the traditional Japanese dish, Okonomiyaki, once at Musha in Santa Monica and I was really into all the different flavor and texture combos I experienced. I can describe it best as a cabbage pancake, pan-fried with whatever is laying around thrown in – often this is meat, octopus or squid. One of my favorite ladies, Michiyo, hosted a party in honor of this dish and a visiting friend of hers from Japan who she says makes “the best Okonomiyaki in their village.” The results were amazing – he made one variety with soba noodles and potatoes, one with cheese and corn and one covered in bacon. Alex got a great video of him doing the flip.
