Vote Today
I just watched this year’s incredible Oscar nominated documentary The Garden for a second time and am just as enraged by the corruption within our local politics as I was when I first watched this film in back in January. The documentary tells the story of how a 14-acre community garden in South Central LA was stolen from the farmers by a greedy businessman and some corrupt local politicians engaging in shady backroom deals. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa turned a blind eye and I’m not quite sure how councilwoman for the 9th district Jan Perry can sleep at night. Watching this film really drives home how important local politics can be.
And alas, today is March 3, which means it’s time to VOTE in the local election!
(Linlee Allen first invited me to a screening of The Garden and she wrote a great piece for V, too. Check it HERE)
