Crafters

I have a new favorite, soul-soothing activity: Craft Night. Forget TV night, summer 2010 is going to be all about the crafts. For the first installment of what I hope will be a regular occurrence, I got together with Clare and Deb for some bag making. And some Pizzeria Mozza feasting.

Deb brought these Moroccan straw bags (just calling out to be adorned with fabric pom poms, we thought) and Clare supplied beautiful grosgrain ribbon. Both came equipped with piles of silks, linen and other dreamy fabrics.

I got to work weaving bright red ribbon onto the bags, which I found to be totally relaxing. Not unlike shelling fava beans. Next time, I think I’ll use a big crochet hook though. Might be easier on the old fingers.

Clare and Deb were on pom-pom patrol, churning ‘em out like no one’s business. We all got greedy as the night went on, wanting to make more and more. Thinking of different color/texture combos and uses for the little poms. Bracelet? Check. Necklace? Obvi. Keychain? Hello!

Doesn’t it have a Marni vibe? Love it.

And of course, the piece de resistance – our Lanvin-inspired totes. Pretty!
