Well hello there Los Angeles…

This new issue of Saveur is heaven – little bits of LA food history, articles about old favorites, and a covershot of the Zucchini Blossom Pizza from Pizzeria Mozza. After flipping through the mag early Saturday morning, we excitedly jumped in the car and headed to La Abeja in Highland Park for their Huevos Rancheros, which Saveur calls the most satisfying breakfast in the city. I’m not going to argue with that.

But the highlight of this issue for me has to be Jonathan Gold’s article, “The Hungry Metropolis.” The last line brought a tear to my eye:

Los Angeles, as urban planners are fond of telling us, is a constellation of a hundred languages and a thousand micro-ethnicities, a complex, Blade Runner–esque metropolis. Does such a postmodern city provide the road map for the future of American food? As a hungry native Angeleno, I can say, We should only be so lucky.
