Chef Speak does Tequila!
I just published an article on the Huffington Post about last week’s tequila tasting event at Malo, in Silver Lake. Click HERE to read the whole piece, including foolproof rules from Malo’s bar manager for tequila acquisitions and a perfect recipe for a “market fresh” margarita.
And since summer is right around the corner and two cocktail recipes are better than one, here’s a special recipe for LA in Bloom readers straight from the bar at Malo. It even has a delightful, LA-in-Bloomish type of name:
The Sweet Pea
1 dash Angastora bitters
1/4 oz.Green Chartreuse
1/2 oz Honey Syrup (honey thinned with water)
1/2 oz Lemon juice
1 3/4 oz Herradura Antiquo Silver Tequila
1-2 Pea shoot tendrils
Take pea shoots, honey, lemon and bitters in a mixing tin and muddle.
Add Chartreuse, tequila, and ice. Shake and double strain into a
chilled cocktail glass.
