Another No Cookie Left Behind Bake Sale success story! We raised tons of money for Share Our Strength thanks to the generosity of our amazing bakers and supporters. Thank you so much! Here is a wrap-up of the weekend. My kitchen resembled a baking factory, as my cohorts Amelia Morris and Jeana Sohn and I made magic with butter and sugar on Saturday afternoon. We started with Chocolate Chipotle Shortbread.

Next, we tackled Gaufres de Liege, which Amelia got a head start on by making the dough at home. We heated up the waffle iron and pressed them out one by one. We felt they needed a bit more sugar so we dusted them with powdered sugar.

And lastly, did any of you see the Strawberry Cake featured in the recent “Secrets of Mexican Cooking” issue of Saveur? Tucked in between stories on gorditas zacatecanas and tacos de papa was a piece by Jane and Michael Stern called Specialty of the House: Inside South Carolina’s Soul Food Restaurants . And within this great article is a recipe for Strawberry Cake, which we turned into easy-to-purchase cupcakes. So delicious and so pretty…
