Designer Love: Carolina K
During my recent trip to Mexico, my friend Beatrice Valenzuela also happened to be in Mexico City with her family. We spent one action-packed day together, which consisted of eating big plates of chilaquiles at Casa de los Azulejos, freaking out over Frida’s wardrobe at the Museo Frida Kahlo and shopping at a bazaar in Roma, where dozens of local designs were selling their wares. One of the participating designers was Carolina K, whose colorful hand-embroidered pieces instantly caught our eye. Carolina was born in Argentina but has been living and designing in Mexico for many years. Her line is steeped in traditional techniques and motifs but modernized, making every piece wearable. After Carolina mentioned that she hoped to have a trunk show in LA, Bea and I offered to host one at the gallery later this summer. Looking forward to bringing this fantastic designer to all my LA ladies!
