Secret Garden
Since Sundays are my only day off, I try to make them count, and yesterday, we had a magical experience hiking through Griffith Park to Amir’s Garden, a lush 2-acre garden created by an Iranian immigrant in 1971 after a fire ravished the area. Amir Dialameh carried most of the plants and trees up the steep hill by hand and continued to care for the garden until his death. Today, it is maintained by loyal volunteers. This is such a great place to relax, have a picnic, read a book, take a stroll and take a deep breath (aromatherapy-like smells are everywhere). It’s a real blessing that the most recent Griffith Park fires didn’t destroy it. In the words of Huell Howser, this is really California’s Gold.
