Art Break – Penelope Gottlieb

Kim Light Gallery is showing new work by Penelope Gottlieb in an exhibit cheekily entitled “No $ Down.” Here, Gottlieb tackles the all too timely theme of the American dream of home-ownership and homes as the ultimate class indicator. The exhibit features multiple colored-pencil drawings of generic looking homes, which she models off of newspaper real estate ads. A crackling faux-fire emerges from a 3-D fireplace in the middle of the installation.
