What are you doing tonight?
I’m having a renaissance with Campanile, Mark Peel’s beautiful restaurant that hums with Hollywood history (the building dates back to 1929, when it was designed and built for Charlie Chaplin to house his personal offices). Along with their nightly menu of seasonal fare, Campanile is all about special dining nights. For example, the delightful Wednesday “Market Menu” is inspired by Mark’s findings at the Santa Monica Farmers’ Market. But what really gets me going is “Grilled Cheese Night,” which falls on Thursdays. I finally partook in this goodness last week and let me just tell ya – it’s not to be missed. I ordered a traditional grilled cheese (with tomatoes, onions and mustard), while Alex got something a bit more unique (slow braised lamb with artichokes, cherry tomatoes and goat cheese). Every order comes with a fresh green salad and a basket of french fries. Pair it with a bottle of rosé and you’re entering into dream night territory.
