Miami Moments

I have been meaning to post about Eating Our Words Miami for weeks and today felt like a wonderful day for some tropical goodness. Much to my delight, our reading series was invited to participate in a month long poetry festival called O Miami. We launched the festival two weeks ago in classic Eating Our Words style: Tracy K. Smith was our featured author and the family owned Cuban restaurant Boater’s Grill served as the setting. Perched on the edge of a lagoon in Key Biscanye, I can’t imagine a more beautiful location for a good old fashion pig roast. Guests drank white wine and ate paella while the sun set. And Tracy brought the house down with her beautiful poems. In the midst of all the fun, someone looked at me and said, “It’s like a wedding, but it’s a reading!” Love that.
