Fashion + Art = The Stylist Project

Readers – hello, how are you? I feel like I have been living in a cave, which explains the sporadic and weak posts as of late. You know how when you emerge from working on a big project, you feel really fresh, free and excited about life? That’s where I’m at right about now. But let’s go back in time for a moment.

About a year and a half ago my artist Kimberly Brooks pitched me a project – she wanted to paint portraits of fashion stylists who have styled themselves and posed for her. And in classic KB style, she would only shoot for the moon. That is to say that within months she found herself in Grace Coddington’s apartment taking candid shots of Vogue’s famed Creative Director amongst her cats, reclining on a leopard print chaise.

As of Saturday night, “The Stylist Project” is officially available for public consumption at Taylor De Cordoba. Included are beautiful portraits of famed local stylist Rose Apodaca (top), Mad Men costumer Janie Bryant (center) and New York Times stylist and celeb stylist Elizabeth Stewart (bottom). The work in on view through April 3 so please come see it in person if you’re in the LA area!
